Job Description
Purpose:
To resource, plan, organize, implement and direct the Christian Education program for all ages and a ministry for youth; to train lay leaders for the task of teaching and leading Christian education in a shared capacity.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide vision and development of creative ways to teach and nurture spiritual growth in people of all ages.
2. Provide leadership to the Christian Education program.
3. Serve as a resource for the Christian Education Committee.
4. Participate in the regular evaluation and selection of appropriate curriculum.
5. Recruit, train and support Christian Education teachers and leaders.
6. Acquire and organize necessary supplies and instructional materials.

8. Coordinate and administer a mid-week youth ministry for ages K-12 which includes mission opportunities.
9. Communicate information about Christian education opportunities.
10. Evaluate the effectiveness of offered Christian education programming in conjunction with the Christian Education Committee.
11. Attend staff meetings and Christian Education Committee meetings as scheduled.
12. Work cooperatively with the pastor/head of staff and complete other duties as assigned by the pastor/head of staff.

Qualifications:
1. Be a graduate of a four-year college, preferably with a degree in education.
2. Have a strong personal faith and deep commitment to the life and mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and be familiar with the theology and history of the Presbyterian Church.
3. Have experience with or training in educational theory and practice.
4. Be familiar with theories of human development and learning styles.
5. Have a positive and enthusiastic personality, capable of leading and motivating others.
Compensation:
1. Salary and benefits of approximately $37,250 contingent upon education and experience.
2. Enrollment in the Presbyterian Church (USA) pension plan or another comparable plan.
3. Participation in medical insurance, which will be at least partially paid by the church, after ninety days of employment.
4. Accumulation of paid vacation days at a rate dependent upon number of years of service. Minimum accrual is ten days per year and can not be used until the one year anniversary of employment with the church.
5. One paid personal day of leave per year.
6. Accrual of paid sick leave in the amount of 1.25 days per month, not to exceed a maximum accumulation of 240 days.
7. Eight paid holidays.
8. Mileage reimbursement for church related travel as approved by the pastor/head of staff.
This is a full time
position with a requirement of a forty hour work week.
